Axel's Castle

When the characters defeated the evil plot of Baron Drachen to raise a skeletal monster (in 'Where Drachen Dare') they inherited a castle. After all, the bad guys were all defeated, and the place was empty. Of course, Axel didn't actually want to stay there, he and the group wanted to go off on adventures. So they gave it to Axel's familyto manage, and it has caused them many problems since.

The castle is not run by Axel's older sister Ruth, and she is working very hard to make it worthwhile. Recently Axel sent a vast number of refugees there to fill the depopulated village below the castle. Ruth has done her best to feed them, as she knows she needs people to work the land, but has woken up every day cursing her brother's name!

The maps for the castle are available on the Valkyrie magazine website as downloads, and so are presented here so you can see what the place looks like. Hopefully this will not annoy the artist (Andy Warner of Legend Games) who I heatily thank for his excellent work.

The Hillside and area around Schlos Drachen. All this land now belongs to the family Von Wendal. Note the basket elevator that grants easy passage to the castle.

A plan veiw of the Castle itself. The west wall is to the top of the picture, in case you (like Axel) find it easy to confuse with the east wall. The main keep is the building to the top right, which houses the great hall featuring the skull of the defeated Drachen.

The dungeons and catacombs under the castle, where the characters spent their first visit.
