Around this point we paused 7th Sea.

I realised I was burning out, and while I had plenty of ideas for adventures, I wasn’t giving the game the time and attention it needed.

My plan was to move to Legend of the Five Rings, playing Rokugan characters who would help the 7th Sea characters when the campaign resumed, but that never really took. Life also got in the way a little. Unable to get the entire group together (and with two of the group tied up with their new daughter) we moved on to other things.

But we all still missed 7th Sea and the mystery of how they got to a beach had been killing them (I knew but was never going to just explain it!). So, on a whim, when the usual game couldn’t carry on one week we put together new characters and returned to 7th Sea. We played ‘Passing the Border’ and it reminded us all how we had missed it. Plans begun to begin 7th Sea once more.

Strangely, it seems we weren’t the only ones to remember 7th Sea.

After we returned properly to the campaign, John Wick announced Second Edition was in the works.

You’ll know what happened next.

Upon the Beach
Our heroes wake up on a beach in a strange land. But how did they get here and what brought them to this mysterious place?

Characters wake up on a beach

Discover they are in Rokugan

On the mainland, some Castillians are on the Mantis Islands

Put under care of a Scorpion who can translate Castillian.

Here is where we took a pause

Passing the Border
A new group of unlikely heroes (so unlikely they are barely heroes) make a decision to leave their respective armies and earn better money.

New group of characters try sneaking past the Barcino border to escape military service

Run into the Inquisition and get a job.

Follow a ‘heretic’ preacher as a test but decide to get him out of the city

Flames in the Night
In the service of a dangerous and fanatical inquisitor, the group must face another team of heroes with a reputation for adventure.

NOM Adventure 4 by Ray Yand

We had another pause before fully returning to 7th Sea. So to get things going again I decided it would be fun if they kept their new characters, and I played their old characters as NPCs for a while. I picked the adventure ‘Flames in the Night’ and ran it as if the old PCs were playing the adventure and the players new characters were the NPCs.

Characters come up against the old PCs who are protecting women in Castille

They are lured to an out of town house where the Inquisitor is taken down.
